The Art of Human Professionalism … Her Life is Her Message!

Producing her first works at the age of 11, Ms. Salaam has always guided people in the assuming of proactive roles in their own lives, emphasizing love, self expression, cultural appreciation, team building and the elaboration of basic human competencies for healthy growth and development. Since 1987, Salaam, Founder/CEO of Salaam Arts & Inspiration LLC (SAI), has designed and implemented arts based curriculum/programs and personal/professional development conferences for students in grades K-12. Native New Yorker and forward thinking product of the NYC public school system, Salaam strategized her “life purpose” career, becoming a Contracted Vendor with the NYC Department of Education, birthing then championing initiatives that energize the classroom by artistically combining academia with life learning experiences.  SAI’s direct services are both co-educational and gender specific, reaching more than 2000 young people and families annually! Writer, producer, director, choreographer, creative genius Salaam too facilitates enterprising workforce development opportunities and seminars for city/state agencies, individual or private groups, corporations, educators, parents and artists of all genres.

From her blessed work with SAI, Salaam recognized the value of and need for entrepreneurs to “Give Thanks by Giving Back”.  “I believe it is the responsibility of all of us to lead our children, our families and our communities to social leadership, economic strength, political promise and academic excellence!  In honor of Harriet Tubman, forward thinking journeys must continue.  I know that ordinary people can make a change.  Such is when and how we become Extra-Ordinary”, says Salaam.  In 2000, GirlSpirit WomenSong Inc. (GSWS) was born, a 501C3 non-profit organization, the philanthropic arm of SAI.  The mission is to improve Leadership, Life Skills, Artistic Expression and Social Etiquette of pre-teen, teenaged girls & women.  Founder/Executive Director, Salaam orchestrates projects that inspire self-reliance, enhancing mindset, body image and a spirited quality of life. GSWS is best known for “Bring Me Your Daughters”, an Annual Empowerment Conference for middle-high school girls, Harriet’s Heart, Salaam’s surrogate adoption of 19 teenaged girls, each representing Harriet Tubmans 19 journeys on the underground railroad as well as GirlSpirit Leadership Pageants in schools in both the Bronx and Harlem.  Salaam’s non-profit experience was cultivated in her 21 year artistic and administrative career with the NYC Housing Authority Pathways For Youth Boys & Girls Club.

Salaam's heroes include Mahatma Ghandi, Harriet Tubman and the Honorable Percy Sutton.  Motivator and Mentor to thousands, her foremost accomplishment was becoming a woman that makes her Savannah Georgia, born and bred parents very proud. Secondly, saving three years salary to start her business, while wholeheartedly raising and educating two healthy, caring and talented, college graduate daughters, with no outstanding student loans!  In her progressing legacy, solution driven Salaam will cultivate her businesses into award winning enterprises, spearheading endeavors that ignite entrepreneurial spirit, promote readiness, wellness and economic promise, propelling global revitalization of families and communities of color.  Further, produce literary, media and other groundbreaking initiatives and projects that address principal human issues, continuing to build a forward thinking empire that bridges gaps, motivates positive thinking and encourages social responsibility and change! Salaam Jaha shares her unwavering, spiritual passion for the betterment of humanity, with her joyfully supportive husband, in the historic village of Harlem.
